Gold Coast’s own Sam Stosur visited Warner Bros. Movie World today to launch Suncorp Kids Tennis Day, where kids enter free at the Brisbane International on 31 December 2017.
During the visit, Stosur met and played tennis with everyone’s favourite Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester, who will join the party later this month at Suncorp Kids Day.
“I actually grew up here not too far from Movie World so it’s nice to come back here,” said Stosur.
“It’s all about Kids Day for Brisbane International, and I don’t think there’s a better place where kids want to hang out at that Movie World, so to combine it with tennis is even better.”
Australia’s Got Talent finalist and multi-platinum entertainer Timomatic will perform live on Pat Rafter Arena to headline Suncorp Kids Tennis Day. A family favourite, the Pat Rafter Arena Spectacular launches Brisbane International presented by Suncorp in thrilling fashion, with DC Super Heroes including DC Comic’s Justice League to join Timomatic and the superstars of the tournament in an action-packed hour of live entertainment, games, and audience interaction.
An exciting line-up of characters off-court is also bound for the event’s entertainment precinct, The Racquet Club, when it transforms for the ultimate birthday party to celebrate 10 years of the Brisbane International.
Plus, PJ Masks and the stars of Peppa Pig will also delight the youngest tennis fans in live shows on the HIT105 stage.
Launching on Kids Tennis Day, and available throughout the week of the event in The Racquet Club, will be plenty of new activities for kids and kids-at-heart. Fans can put their blasting skills to good use in the maze at the new NERF HQ. Also new in 2018 are the McDonald’s mini tennis courts offering young fans a chance to play tennis and look out for the world’s top tennis players who will be visiting throughout the day. Kids can also test their ball skills at the Suncorp Ball Kids Challenge, play virtual reality tennis and loads more.
“We’re delighted to be opening the tenth event with a bang on New Year’s Eve at Suncorp Kids Tennis Day. We encourage families to come along and experience all the fun of Kids Day, with a huge line-up of characters and activities sure to please fans of all ages,” Tournament Director Cameron Pearson said.
“With free entry for kids under 16, the day is a welcome break for parents looking for new ways to entertain the kids throughout the summer holidays.
“As well as a great day of entertainment, Kids Tennis Day is an opportunity to give kids a taste of tennis and allow some children to pick up a racquet for the first time or feel the thrill of what it’s like to be a Suncorp ball kid. We hope to see this experience catapult a lifetime in the sport for the next generation of Grand Slam champions, like our very own Sam Stosur.”
Brisbane International 2018 presented by Suncorp and supported by Tourism and Events Queensland, will be held at Queensland Tennis Centre from 31 December 2017 to 7 January 2018. The tournament is part of the Emirates Australian Open Series.
Entry to the Suncorp Kids Tennis Day and Pat Rafter Arena Spectacular is FREE for children under 16 who are accompanied by a paying adult. All children must hold a valid Suncorp Kids Tennis Day ticket to enter, which can be secured at the same time of purchasing adult tickets.
