Czech third seed Karolina Pliskova has comfortably advanced to the Brisbane International quarterfinals with a straight-sets dismissal of American qualifier Asia Muhammad on Tuesday.
The world No.6, a finalist at last year’s US Open, broke five times in the one-hour, 14-minute affair to reach the last eight in Brisbane for the first time.
The 189th-ranked Muhammad was on a three-match winning streak having won through three rounds of qualifying and beating Donna Vekic in the opening round.
Pliskova awaits the winner of eighth seed Roberta Vinci and Japan’s Misaki Doi.
