Third seed Karolina Pliskova‘s hot run on hard courts continues with the Czech comfortably accounting for Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina to reach the Brisbane International final on Friday night.
The 24-year-old Czech claimed the second women’s semifinal clash 6-2 6-4 to set up a title decider with unseeded Frenchwoman Alize Cornet.
Sixth seed Svitolina was coming off a gutsy three-set upset of world No.1 Angelique Kerber on Friday night and had no answer for whatever Pliskova dished out.
“I’m very excited to be in the final. Everything is going well,” Pliskova said. “I think I was serving really well. She might have been tired from the last match but I think I played solid from the baseline too.”
More to come …
