GENIE BRINGS STAR POWER TO BRISBANE

18 November 2016, by Brisbane International Tennis

Popular Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard has announced via social media that she will be playing the Brisbane International in 2017.

The 22-year-old has never started her season in Queensland , and will be looking to return to her top-ten potential when she kicks off the new year on Pat Rafter Arena.

“I’m excited to be starting my season at the Brisbane International in January,” said Genie.

“I’ve heard such great things about the tournament and the city, I can’t wait to visit Queensland for the first time this summer.”

The Canadian has had a checkered 15 months, slipping to 46 in the rankings since suffering a concussion at the US Open last year. Bouchard favours Australian conditions, making both the Semi and Quarter finals of two consecutive Australian Opens in 2014-15.

She joins a strong field to play Brisbane, alongside World Number One Angelique Kerber, and French Open Champ Garbine Muguruza. The full field won’t be known until later this month.
