Eighth seed Dominic Thiem is the first to advance to the men’s singles quarterfinals at the 2016 Brisbane International after a routine 6-3, 6-2 victory over Denis Kudla on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Austrian sent down seven aces and needed just 56 minutes to dispose of the American on Pat Rafter Arena.
He awaits the winner of No.3 seed Marin Cilic and Korean Hyeon Chung.
