Festival of Tennis continues

11 October 2012, by Brisbane International Tennis

The Brisbane International Festival of Tennis will visit Queensland’s Gold Coast from 10 to 12 October 2012.

The festival will visit a number of locations throughout the region:

  • Breakpoint Tennis (Radisson Resort),  Radisson Resort, Palm Meadows, Qld 4211 (Thursday 11 October, 4.00–6.00 pm) including a special guest appearance by Home and Away actor Luke Mitchell
  • Brisbane International launch activation, Evandale Park (front area), Bundall, Gold Coast, Friday 12 October 3pm–6pm

2012 marks the second year of this free state-wide tour that provides regional communities with an array of fun tennis activities for people of all ages and abilities.

Tennis fans will be able to enjoy their very own photo opportunity with the Brisbane International trophies – Roy Emerson Trophy (men’s singles) and Evonne Goolagong Cawley Trophy (women’s singles).

“The Brisbane International Festival of Tennis offers communities throughout Queensland  an opportunity to be part of all the action away from the tournament,” said Cameron Pearson, Tennis Queensland CEO and Brisbane International Tournament Director.

“By taking the Brisbane International trophies to the different regions of Queensland we hope to inspire the next generation of tennis players who may one day compete at their home state tournament, the Brisbane International.

“At last year’s festival it was wonderful to see so many children getting involved in fun and interactive tennis activities such as kids’ development program MLC Tennis Hot Shots, and we hope to build on this even more in 2012,” Pearson continued.

“The Brisbane International has grown over its short history to be one of Queensland’s premier sporting events attracting international stars such as Novak Djokovic, Kim Clijsters and Sam Stosur.

“Olympic gold medallists Andy Murray and Serena Williams will return to Queensland this summer and world No.2 Maria Sharapova will also be in attendance. We are thrilled these world-class players have decided to start their year with us,” Pearson added.
