Top seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor are through to the men’s doubles final after downing last year’s finalists Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau in straight sets, 6-2 7-6(3).
With games on serve in the first set, the Swedish-Romanian duo let a Mirnyi volley float between them only to see it land on the baseline.
It proved costly with the top seeds breaking serve and going on to wrap up the set 6-2 on the back of a curling Nestor forehand pass down the line.
Lindstedt banged down three straight aces to hold for 4-4 in the second and it looked as though the third seeds might push a match tiebreak to decide the semifinal.
Facing match point on a short deuce, Tecau held with an ace down the T for 5-5 and games went with serve to force a tiebreaker.
It was the Belarusian-Canadian duo who would combine better on the big points though, clinching it 7-3.
Last year’s French Open champions will meet US Open champions and second seeds Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner in Sunday’s decider.
