Stars from the ATP and WTA will join forces with athletes, footballers and a musician to raise money for the Starlight Foundation at the third annual Brisbane International Family Day on Friday 31 December.

For a gold coin donation, fans can watch former Brisbane International champions Radek Stepanek and Andy Roddick practice at Pat Rafter Arena, then enjoy an exhibition match that promises to be anything but predictable.

Two teams, led by former pro Scott Draper and Tournament Director Steve Ayles, will go head to head at Pat Rafter Arena.

“The Brisbane International Family Day is going to be a fun day for families to come and enjoy some entertaining tennis and the great atmosphere at the Queensland Tennis Centre,” said Ayles.

“And with all proceeds going to the Starlight Foundation, it’s a great way for the tournament and tennis fans to join forces to support a charity that does fantastic work in our community.”

Athletes and celebrities donating their time to support the Starlight Foundation include Jelena Dokic, Darren Middleton (Powderfinger), Nick Kenny (Brisbane Broncos), Zane Holmes (Ironman), Shane Tronc (Brisbane Broncos), Simon Black (Brisbane Lions), Matt Poole (Ironman) and rising tennis stars Ash Barty and Ebony Panaho.

As well as the exhibition match, fans can take in MLC Tennis Hot Shots demonstrations, autograph sessions, Kids Zone activities and watch first-round qualifying matches on the outer courts.

With all of these events happening around the grounds at the Queensland Tennis Centre, the Brisbane International Family Day promises to be a great day for a great cause.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation has been working tirelessly since 1988 to deliver innovative programs, both in and out of hospitals. Their mission is to brighten the lives of all seriously ill and hospitalised children.

If you’d like to support the work of the Starlight Foundation, you can help by donating to the volunteers located throughout the Brisbane International site or add a donation when you purchase Brisbane International merchandise.

Gates open at 9:00 am, with qualifying matches beginning at 10:00 am. Stepanek and Roddick will be on court at Pat Rafter Arena between 10:00 am and 11:00 am, with the exhibition match beginning at 11:00 am.
