Today’s official launch of Brisbane International 2010 unveiled an exciting array of new players and plans for next years event.
“With five players already named for the January event, the Brisbane International is shaping up to be even bigger and better than 2009,“ Brisbane International Tournament Director, Steve Ayles, announced at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
“The official naming of Andy Roddick, James Blake and Gael Monfils in the men’s draw and Kim Clijsters and Ana Ivanovic in the women’s draw is a huge achievement for Brisbane.
“Add to this some exciting new on-site initiatives, Seven Network broadcasting the tournament nationally and we are set for a stunning event that will showcase not only the event but the city to a worldwide audience.”
New in 2010, patrons of the Brisbane International will be entertained off the court at the Yellow tail Vinyl bar which will include live music, a wine bar and a big screen to catch all the action from Pat Rafter Arena.
Official Tournament apparel provider Slazenger will introduce the Slazenger Retail Outlet and the tournament stringers will be moved into a public area so spectators can get close to all the action as racquets are strung for the top players.
Award winning caterer, Michael O’Brien Catering who looks after the Gabba and Skilled Park, will also be on site in 2010 and takes over as the official tournament caterer.
The Interactive Zone returns in 2010 but has grown in size to include a rock climbing wall, mini tennis courts, face painting ,interactive games and talent search demonstrations. National Academy Brisbane exhibitions will also be on site to inspire future tennis stars.
Complementing the Interactive Zone there will be a live outside broadcast by Austereo, including player interviews and tournament updates while the official AM partner, 4BC, will broadcast its Sports Today program each weekday evening live from the Queensland Tennis Centre.
Lexus return providing 25 vehicles to drive the players to and from the tournament while Slazenger has provided 120 pairs of shoes for the Brisbane International ballkids and more than 10,000 Wilson tennis balls have been ordered in preparation for the tournament.
Brisbane International 2010 series packages are on sale now with single sessions available on 14 October. Ground passes remain $9.90 with the qualifying event on Friday 1–2 January 2010 free.
