Queensland tennis royalty gathered at Milton on Thursday for the opening of the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre.

Named in honour of one of Australia’s greatest players, Emerson is one of only seven men to win all four majors in his career.

He would finish his career with 12 grand slam singles titles – six Australian, two French Opens, two Wimbledons and two US Opens.

Fellow greats Rod Laver, Ashley Cooper and Mal Anderson attended the ceremony in Emerson’s honour at Milton, where he was presented with Tennis Queensland life membership.

Laver, Cooper and Emerson were also inducted as Icons of Queensland tennis on Pat Rafter Arena Wednesday night.
